Ever since going vegan, I have gotten a blood test done on average once per year. Even though I know I am eating a more balanced and healthy diet than ever before in my life, I have become more aware of the connection between diet and health, and want to be sure my body has all the nutrients it needs.
The end of year holidays are over, and most of us have gotten into a rut of eating more than we need or want to eat. Also, January is a time to reset, to make plans for the coming year, and to start fresh. It’s a time to not only reset your mind, but also your body. And how better to do this than with a detox!
Fasting in various forms has been shown to have a number of health benefits and can not only prevent, but even reverse certain diseases. It gives your body a break, so that it can reset the digestive system and flush out accumulated toxins, leaving you feeling overall lighter and energized. On top of these main benefits, it can help you break unhealthy eating habits and stimulate fat loss.
Hey guys, Today I would like to share 7 of my personal health tips with you! I am really glad I have been healthy this whole winter even though many people around me have been sick with a cold or flu, and I like to think that part of it is due to a few little healthy habits I practice. Now, I am not saying that these habits are ALL proven to be effective or that you have to adopt all of them. I am providing this information as inspiration for you, so try out what you want and feel free to adopt any habits that work for you! 😉
I usually take my overnight oats to work in the morning because I don’t have time to make breakfast before I leave. Whenever I have time in the morning however, I make a green smoothie to give my body an extra boost of nutrients. And my immune system has thanked me so far.
When you hear “oil pulling” for the 1st time, you most likely will not be able to imagine what it is, how it’s done and most of all why! I was similarly clueless when I first heard about it. But stumbling across it several times and having heard experiences from multiple people, I wanted to try it myself.
I usually drink my smoothies out of a glass. But after seeing smoothie bowls everywhere on Instagram, I had to give this a try! If anything, smoothie bowls can be decorated a lot prettier than smoothies.. 🙂 This one I made after a run and packed it with plenty of superfoods to nourish my body with some iron, magnesium, fiber and lots of other nutrients it was craving after the exercise. Smoothies are definitely the easiest way to get your daily fruit & veggie servings! Ingredients: 1/2 frozen banana 1 apple 2 big leaves of swiss chard 1/2 lemon handful of oats* 1/2 tsp spirulina a dash of plant milk (depending on preferred thickness) toppings of your liking (in the photos I used hemp hearts, chia seeds, goji berries, raspberries and pomegranate) *use gluten-free oats & milk to make gluten-free Instructions: Wash and cut fruit/veggies, squeeze lemon and combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth, pour into a bowl and top with superfood & fruit! ———————————————————————————————– Zutaten: 1/2 gefrorene Banane 1 Apfel 2 große Blätter Mangold …
I recently did a 5 day detox program that I got from Our Clean Journey (it is available in German only for now). Detoxing is supposed to give your liver and kidneys a break and wash out toxins that have built up in the body. There are a lot of different ways to detox, but since I am not a fan of depriving myself of solid food for days, I chose this gentle program. The main idea of the Our Clean Journey detox is to cut out things like flour, animal products, alcohol, coffee, salt, sugar, preservatives and basically all processed food. In those 5 days, you make all your meals from fresh, unprocessed food, so it does take a little bit of time to prepare. To do the detox, I chose a few days when I was at home anyways, so I would be flexible enough to make food whenever I wanted. The plan provides you with 36 recipes for breakfast, lunch/dinner and snacks as well as a little 5 day planner, where you can plan out …
